Arabica coffee (Latin: Coffea arabica) is a type of coffee made from the beans of the Coffea arabica plant of the rubiaceae family. The flowers of the plant are dark green until they begin to ripen, at first to yellow and then darkening to a glossy, deep red. Arabica tend to grow 9 to 12 meters tall. Its beans are consumed as a stimulant.
The plant can tolerate low temperatures, but not frost, and it grows best in temperatures between 15 and 24 °C. Usually, the arabica is cultivated in high altitudes.
Arabica originated in the southwestern highlands of Ethiopia. Furthermore, Arabica coffee makes up 60% or more of coffee production in the world.
