Canola oil is a vegetable oil that is made from the rapeseeds plant, of the turnip family. Canola was developed in Canada and was selectively bred from the original rapeseed to have significantly less acid. Canola oil is usually made at a processing facility by slightly heating up and then crushing the seed. The oil is then extracted using a solvent. Moreover, canola has been described as one of the healthiest commodity oils available on the market. The oil contains the least amount of saturated fat of any common edible oil.
From planting to seed production, the full life cycle of a canola plant takes about 3-4 months, depending on moisture, soil fertility and sunlight. Canola is a cool season crop, it develops well on cool evenings.
